The Center for Disease Control (CDC) recently announced that there are no plans to lower the age of consent for sexual activity in the United States. This announcement comes after a recent report from the CDC that found that the number of teenagers engaging in sexual activity has declined in recent years.

The CDC report found that the percentage of high school students who reported having sex declined from 41 percent in 2005 to 36 percent in 2015. The report also found that the percentage of students who reported having had four or more sexual partners declined from 15 percent in 2005 to 11 percent in 2015.

The CDC attributes the decline in sexual activity among teenagers to a variety of factors, including increased access to contraception, increased awareness of the risks of sexually transmitted diseases, and increased parental supervision.

The decision not to lower the age of consent is in line with the recommendations of the American Academy of Pediatrics, which has said that the age of consent should remain at 18.
