Three reasons why India won’t experience the same Covid surge as China.
1. India has a much younger population than China. The median age in India is 28, while in China it’s 37. This means that India has a larger population of people who are less susceptible to severe Covid-19 symptoms.
2. India has a lower population density than China. There are only about 400 people per square kilometer in India, compared to 1,500 in China. This means that there is less potential for the virus to spread rapidly in India.
3. India has a more diverse population. There are over 2,000 different languages spoken in India, and the country is home to people of many different religions. This diversity means that people are less likely to come into contact with each other, and the virus is less likely to spread.
