The President of the Twenty 20 cricket tournament, Aravinda de Silva, has been charged with “discrimination” under the SC/ST Act. The case has been filed by the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) after they received a complaint from a player who alleged that he was not allowed to play in the tournament because of his caste.

The player, Prakash, who belongs to the Dalit community, had alleged that he was not permitted to play in the tournament because it was “reserved for upper caste players”. He also alleged that he was not given a refund of his entry fee even after he was not allowed to play.

The NCSC has issued a notice to de Silva and has asked him to reply within 21 days.
