Twitter has long been the go-to social media platform for many people. But in recent years, it has come under fire for its handling of user data and for its censorship of certain content. Now, it seems, Twitter is cracking down on competitors.

Mastodon is a microblogging service that is similar to Twitter. It allows users to post short messages, called “toots,” which can be seen by anyone who follows them. Mastodon also has a feature that allows users to block certain content from their timelines.

Twitter has now banned Mastodon from its platform. In a statement, Twitter said that it “does not tolerate platform manipulation and will take strong enforcement action against companies that violate our rules.”

This is not the first time Twitter has taken action against a competitor. In 2019, Twitter suspended the account of the Indian microblogging service Koo. Koo is similar to Twitter, and it was gaining popularity in India. But Twitter said that Koo was in violation of its platform policies.

It’s unclear why Twitter is suddenly cracking down on these competitors. But one thing is clear: Twitter is not happy about losing users to other platforms.
