The UK’s airport regulator has said that it will start to loosen restrictions on carrying liquids in aeroplanes from 2024. The change will come as a result of new technology that will allow for the detection of liquids in bags. This will mean that passengers will no longer have to put their liquids in separate, clear plastic bags. The new technology is expected to be rolled out at all of the UK’s major airports.

Containers of liquids up to two litres will no longer have to be checked in cabin baggage under a new bill to be presented to parliament. Electronic devices such as laptops will also no longer need to be removed from carry-on luggage, the government has said.
