The United States ambassador to Afghanistan, John Bass, has praised India’s “huge humanitarian help” for the war-torn country.

In an interview with the Hindustan Times, Bass said India had been “a very generous provider of humanitarian assistance” to Afghanistan, particularly in terms of providing food and medical supplies.

He also commended India for its “substantial” financial assistance to the Afghan government, which he said was “critical” in helping to stabilize the country.

Bass’s remarks come at a time when India is facing criticism from some quarters for its alleged “deafening silence” on the plight of the Afghan people.

However, the ambassador said he was “confident” that India would continue to play a “constructive role” in Afghanistan’s development, regardless of the “short-term noise” about the issue.
