The Vishwas Jan (Amendment of Provisions) Bill was presented in the Lok Sabha today and has been sent to a parliamentary panel for further scrutiny. The bill seeks to amend the existing provisions of the Vishwas Jan scheme, which was launched in 2015 to provide relief to farmers in distress. The scheme provides for a one-time payment of Rs. 5,000 to each farmer, who is registered with the scheme. The bill seeks to increase the amount to Rs. 10,000. The bill also seeks to extend the scheme to cover all farmers in the country, regardless of whether they are registered with the scheme or not. The bill will now be examined by the parliamentary Standing Committee on Agriculture.
