It’s been 12 years since Jaydev Unadkat last played for India. So when he was finally called back up to the national team, his emotional response went viral. The 27-year-old left-arm seamer was included in India’s squad for the upcoming T20I series against Bangladesh. And his reaction to the news was captured on camera by his wife, Jui.

In the video, Unadkat can be seen tearing up as he reads the message from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) informing him of his selection. His wife can be heard comforting him and telling him, “It’s okay, it’s okay.”

Unadkat made his debut for India back in 2010 and has played 11 ODIs and 10 T20Is for his country. He last played for India in September 2016. But he has been in good form of late, taking 21 wickets in 12 matches for Rajasthan Royals in the 2019 Indian Premier League (IPL).

This is a great news for Unadkat and his family. And it’s also a great example of how emotional cricket can be.
