In an article for The Hindu, YS Sharmila, the leader of the Opposition in the Telangana Legislative Council, has taken a barb at Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekar Rao. She has called his party, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, a “bandit’s party”.

Sharmila’s criticism comes in the wake of the recent protests by farmers in Telangana against the government’s proposal to acquire their land for the construction of a new capital city. The farmers have been protesting for weeks now, and the situation has turned violent in some places.

Sharmila has accused the Telangana Rashtra Samithi of “betraying” the farmers. She has also accused the party of using “muscle power” to silence the protesters.

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi has hit back at Sharmila, calling her remarks “unacceptable”. The party has accused her of “trying to create divisions” within the state.

It is clear that Sharmila’s accusations have struck a nerve with the Telangana Rashtra Samithi. The party is clearly feeling the pressure as the protests against its land acquisition policy continue.
