Indian companies are primarily purchasing electoral bonds for Narendra Modi’s ruling party.

India’s parliamentary vote this spring could surpass the $10bn-16bn spent on the White House race, making it the most expensive election this year. India’s 2019 general election was already the most expensive at $8.5bn, while America’s presidential poll the following year exceeded that. This year’s elections could be more costly than America’s.

The Supreme Court has rejected Kavitha’s bail plea in a money-laundering case involving alleged Delhi excise policy irregularities.

Kejriwal is scheduled to appear in a special court on Friday where the Department of Emergency will seek his custody.

The Delhi High Court arrested Kejriwal after his plea for interim protection was rejected, prompting the ED to question why he hadn’t sought anticipatory bail in the lower court.

Kejriwal skipped nine ED summonses due to their “illegal” nature, arguing that the ED did not specify the capacity he was called in, such as an accused, witness, chief minister, or national convener of the Aam Aadmi Party.
